Digital Locker app To Save Government Documents Online


DigiLocker acts as an online storage space for storing your documents which are linked with your Aadhar number and it is more secure too. This was launched by Government of India, Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY). It is also known as elocker and it comes under a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India Program.

 Users of this digilocker can upload their documents such as education certificates, PAN, Voter ID, etc. In order to authorize those documents, you should have to link it with Aadhar Number. Hence there is no need to carry physical format of your documents and you can keep it safe.

Get Started with DigiLocker:

Before getting started, users should have an Aadhar number and a mobile number registered with Aadhar.

You can sign up the digilocker by providing the relevant information.

Users should have to enter their 12 digit Aadhar number at first.
Enter the captcha code.

Click on signup button.

You can authorize by two ways: either by generating OTP, or by using finger print.

Use finger print device to make it easy.

OTP can be generated and it can be validated through your registered mobile number.

Click on Validate OTP button for validation process.

Finally, you have completed your sign up process and now you are the authorized users of digilocker.

You can upload your various documents provided by the educational institutions, government offices etc.

Parties of digilocker:
Parties are nothing but the important members who are accessing this Digi-locker. They are:

Issuers: 
This specifies any Government department such as IT department/ RTO office/ educational institutions which are responsible for issuing e-documents to individuals in a standard format.

Resident:
It represents the authorized user of digilocker who links all of his/ her documents with Aadhar number. He/ she can upload their educational documents/ certificates, PAN, voter ID etc. After the successful uploading, these documents are added and displayed under the uploaded documents section.

Requesters:

Requesters may be employers, Passport office, Universities etc. which requests the e-documents from the repository of the user for verification purpose.

The main benefit of using this Digi-locker is it minimizes the usage of physical documents.

Documents can be kept in safe place.

This provides digital empowerment of the certificates uploaded by the user on cloud.

E-documents can be shared via social media such as E-mail, face book etc.
If any registered requester wants to verify your certificates then it is easy for the requester to view your documents. 

Since these uploaded documents are linked with Aadhar Number they can have “any time & anywhere access” in the secured way.

No need to carry documents in physical format as its stored in cloud, not on your hand-held device.

Its completely safe as its saved using latest Cloud technology.

Each and every document is linked with Aadhar number and hence they are purely authenticated.

Once user enters into digilocker, he will be allotted with 10MB storage space for storing his/her certificates.

Each document should not exceed the size  one Mb .

It ensures privacy and authorized access to user’s data that are uploaded in e-locker.
